    Our stay in this condo was great. We couldn't get enough of the incredible view. It's a light, bright unit with a large lanai, newly redone kitchen and bathrooms. There is all kinds of snorkel/beach equipment. Kitchen has all kinds of gadgets (including Rubbermaid food storage, coffee grinder, mixer, blender). Would definitely stay here again.

    We did not stay at the condo due to family obligations. We tried to cancel and I did talk to someone who seemed quite disinterested in helping me. I cant say I would recommend since we did not get to stay there. The pictures look lovely though. We also lost over $2000. So buyer beware.

    Important note: It has no A/C and if there is no breeze, it is HOT. We are from Houston so we know hot and this was SUPER hot. Location and condo itself are great. We had 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) and it probably would have hosted more. Beautiful tile work. Issues were not handled in a timely fashion. One of the fans (Kitchen) did not work (3 days to replace), gas grill outside did not work (Started working next day), wasp nest in loft area (removed 2 days later), master toilet did not flush well (Never fixed), smoke alarm went off nightly (Never fixed, we finally removed from wall ourselves). We received a $100 refund for the issues above on a $1400 bill. Management tried to blame slowness of repair on a sick teen we had left at condo for 1 day.

      S&R 4302 is not advertised as having A/C. There are fans in every room and extra stand alone fans for guest use. This is normally sufficient with a nice ocean breeze coming off the ocean. That being said we have had an unusually hot summer this year. Guest complained about the kitchen fan. It was replaced the following day with a new one. It started to make a noise so we went back on the following day and adjusted it. The wasp nest took an extra day to address as apparently the guest in the loft area did not want to be disturbed. The BBQ's are located on the grounds of the project and not under our supervision. The propane tanks are checked on a daily basis and just need to be turned on. Master toilet drainage was within the walls of the condo and as such was an HOA issue. They were apprised immediately and it was remedied in a timely fashion. The smoke alarm was replaced early on. I do not understand why it would only go off at night. When batteries are dead it goes off day & night. Next guest had no issues with the smoke alarm. We try very hard to insure our guests have the best experience possible. Although we responded to the different issues right away, I felt some sort of refund would appease the minor detractions.     This was the perfect for us. The condo was big and comfortable for our family of 5 and had everything we needed from beach towels to extra pillows. Location was close to town and easy to get to. The property is right next to the water which made sleeping peaceful with the sound of waves crashing. We were also able to go fishing (catch and release) off the cliffs outside and the kids absolutely loved it. JoAnn and Wayne (owner and manager) were great and responsive and provided all the details we needed. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. I highly recommend this property and will definitely try to book this condo again the next time I visit.

    2nd time staying at this condo and as good as the first time. Complex is very quiet, beautifully landscaped and secure. Ocean view from master bedroom/family room/lanai is spectacular, and fell asleep every night to the waves. Kitchen is up to date with everything that we needed, and washer/dryer a plus. Can't say anything negative. Best snorkeling is a 2 minute walk north!

    This unit has beautiful views of the ocean. Floor to ceiling windows and patio doors that lead on to a large lanai. Comfortable seating on the lanai. It was fantastic waking up each morning to the sound of the waves and view of the ocean. The condo was well appointed and had everything we needed for cooking and the beach. The only negative, the twin beds need new mattresses, the master bed isn't far behind in that need either.

    In the listing this property is described as "luxurious", "designer decorated furnishings", "gourmet kitchen", and "completely refurbished". Unfortunately, that is not what this unit is. While the kitchen does have a upgraded kitchen, it looks like the upgrade was done some time ago. The furniture is bulky and looks like it could be second hand. The only piece of furniture in LR was so huge that it is difficult to get around. And they squeezed in a coffee table beside at least a 4ft. ottoman. The main lighting is from the ceiling fans in the kitchen and LR which is so bright at night and impossible to turn down. One small lamp is totally inadequate. The kitchen was not stocked with even basic items such as a broiler pan, serving bowls, platter, tall glasses. The small appliances looked old some looked like they had old food stuck on them. Some dishes were chipped and silverware was
    old. The kitchen cupboards could use a good scrubbing as the handles were grimy. And some things looked like they came the Good Will. There is no TV in the master bd. and no clock. The master bath sink was missing a plug in the sink and in place put a wire mesh holder. The closest BBQ was three steps above the parking lot with no table or place to put food or prep. things. While the unit was surface clean, it really needs a deep cleaning. The unit is on the top floor with 4 flights of stairs. Someone with any physical disability or impairment would have a hard time getting up and down carrying luggage and groceries. The bldg itself if located towards the end of the property and is a walk to the pool. The quality of the unit does not match the price for this unit and the description of this unit in the listing is not accurate. About the only thing we liked was the view.

    We have had the good fortune of staying in several different units at the Keauhou Surf and Racquet over the last few years. This unit was very clean, and I do like that the floors are all tile. This unti had a very nice master bath with a big shower. The only downside to that was that the larger bathroom took the place of the hallway which runs from front bedroom to back bedroom in most units. The back bedroom therefore lost the sea breeze which would normally help to keep it cool. In March this was not a problem at all. This is the first unit I have stayed in where ALL the fans worked. All those fans make the condo very comfortable. As for location and convenience - it doesn't get any better. That's why we keep coming back to the Surf and Racquet. We would definitely enjoy staying in this unit again.

    Look we come to Hawaii every year. We stay in condos each time. This place was such a let down we actually left after the first day and lost a weeks rental fee. It was in our opinion dirty. There was no AC. now in all honestly it didn't say AC in the write up but it didn't say there wasn't either. I mean come on, your coming to a tropical climate... should there be a little something in the description that says oh yeah BTW there's no AC.
    Screen doors were separated from the frames which let bug and critters in. The kitchen was upgraded but honestly they wasted their money on it. There was lip stick stain on the some of the glasses. So we washed them all. There was dryer lint all over the bathroom door. There was a previous tenants used food in the refrigerator. There was dried food on the front. The entire property seemed very tired. There are better places to spend your money on the Big Island. Sorry and the rental agency obviously didn't see our side of the story. They offered not credit or refund on the unused days. So it was a total loss for us but we needed to save our vacation.

      This guest contacted me the day after his arrival and was upset because there was no A/C. I explained none of our advertising suggested that it did. It is not uncommon for condos in Kona not to have A/C. Several are prohibited by the HOA as they are considered noisy and an eye sore. From this point things went downhill and the guest sited many other issues. I personally went to the unit with my assistant and scrutinized the unit top to bottom. The unit was definitely clean, the screen on the sliding door had been pulled out about a 1/16th of an inch at best probably by a guest walking into it. Not sufficient to let bugs and critters in. Initial complaint was one glass with lipstick. This may have been but we never located it. Sometimes a guest will use the dishwasher and put items away that are not entirely cleaned. Our cleaners are instructed to check all dishes and glasses and rewash as necessary. We could not locate any lint next to the dryer. Many guests like to arrive to some condiments left by previous guests that they can use. All perishables are removed. S&R 4302 is a top floor upgraded direct oceanfront unit. It has been appreciated by many guests as the reviews verify. We are sorry this guest did not check in advance to confirm there was A/C. It is unfortunate that he had to sour the experience for future guests with remarks that fell short of actuality. Mgr.

    The best part about this unit is the ocean view. Also nice being on the top floor of the building. The condo complex however had it's drawbacks: Building itself was dated. The rules at the pool were so restrictive that we felt the only "play" allowed was hopping up and down in the water. ("No Marco Polo, no inflatable toys, no music, no running" and more) There are a couple unused golf course holes behind the units and if you walked on it, someone from the golf course zipped up to you in a cart and told you it was private property. On the bright side, pool was decent size, tennis courts were well maintained. Our unit was nicely appointed though a bit skimpy on dishes and cookware, silverware was the cheapest I've ever seen. All in all, reasonable value.

    Beautiful spacious condo right on the water. Fully updated. The property was quite clean. The only thing to keep in mind is that all windows and fans need to be on or the unit is way too hot. We kept everything open and we were fine. There is no housekeeping unless you pay extra.

    This is a really great unit. Actually much larger than anticipated. With 5 adults and 1 child, we had plenty of place and privacy. The best feature is definitely the view. Not mentioned in the listing is all the beach/pool items available (flippers, coolers, chairs, etc) and baby gear (pack and play, potty). We'd definitely consider staying here again.

    This unit is impeccable and appointed very nicely. We loved the view and it was so quiet and peaceful here. The appliances and ammenities were top notch!     The condo was newly remodeled, clean and as close to the ocean as possible. The condo was well stocked with linens, however we watched the cleaning girl take every thing out of the kitchen and throw them away, including salt pepper and spices! Most VRBO rentals have a few basics in the kitchen, not this one. We had asked if this condo was within walking distance of some shops etc. so the teens could get away from us...we were told yes, but this was not the case. The master bedroom was large and beautiful but privacy was an issue since the sliding door off the master connected to the living room lanai and the two sliding doors to the living room did not close completely. The pool was lovely, but the full time residents were rude and grumpy. This would be a nice place if you had small children or older couples. Wayne at the rental company was great to work with.

      These guests were our first guests for this unit. The previous management had their cleaners remove everything which is the case when you are giving up a rental. Keauhou Shopping center is less than a half mile away. An easy walk for most.The master sliding doors were adjusted and are working fine.
